Amazonite comes in a variety of colors and is in the feldspar family. It is beautiful in certain types of jewelry where will be protected from bumps and scrapes.  Its hardness is 6-6.5 so it will scratch and fracture if subjected to rough use. Amazonite gets its name from the Amazon River in Brazil but it is not and never was mined there.  Originally found in Russia, it is now mined in various locations around the world, including the United States.

In the metaphysical world, Amazonite is considered to help with effective communication, as well as to soothe and calm one.  It can help the wearer focus.  MB1903
